On Wednesday, Mr. Solomon Mugisa, Hima Division Community Liaison Officer, revealed that security forces found the body of Aston Agaba in the park while conducting a search for ADF rebels last Saturday.
Confirming the discovery, Mugisa stated, “Our security recovered the body of Aston Agaba, who was abducted by suspected ADF rebels during the raid on Nkoko Village. Following the postmortem and the subsequent handover of the body for burial, we urge the community to stay calm, remain vigilant, and report any suspicious individuals in their communities.”
During the Nkoko village raid, Betty Biira, 47, was fatally attacked, and her 14-year-old son, Harrison Masereka, sustained serious injuries, currently hospitalized. Additionally, security forces in Kasese District apprehended two suspected ADF rebels, armed with a machete, planning an attack in the district.
The UPDF disclosed that the ADF rebel group responsible for the Nkoko village assault was led by their commander, Kamusu. Following the raid, Kamusu fled to Kibale National Park, where he was subsequently injured and arrested, while two of his associates were killed on December 13 within the park.
In the early hours of Tuesday morning, suspected ADF rebels carried out a gruesome attack in Kyitehurizi village, Kyabandara parish, Kamwenge District, western Uganda, hacking 10 people to death. Six victims were brutally killed in a maize garden, and four others were burned to ashes inside a bar at Kyitehurizi trading center.
