Kampala, Uganda | THE BLACK EXAMINER | South African-based socialite Eng. Acram Gumisiriza, husband to Dr. Kulthum Nabunya Muzaata, has been detained by the police for allegedly threatening to kill a woman. The incident occurred on the night of October 10, 2023, following a dispute between Gumisiriza and a woman named Rema Mwiiza, who was had picked up from Calendar House, Bar and Lodge on Salaama Road.

Gumisiriza and the woman purchased items, including HIV-testing kits, drinks, and fast food, using the woman’s money. He did not inform her that he was taking her to their home in Munyonyo. When they arrived at the home, an argument broke out as the woman refused to leave the car, citing concerns about the dark and powerless environment. She requested to be taken to a guest house or returned to her location.

In response, Gumisiriza allegedly threatened the woman with a panga and demanded the deletion of a video she was suspected of recording with her phone. The woman contacted Salaama Road Police, who arrived at the scene. Despite checking her phone, no video footage was found. Both parties provided statements at a nearby police post, and Gumisiriza was subsequently charged with threatening violence (SD 15/10/10/2023) and transferred to Katwe Police Station.

As of now, Gumisiriza remains in police custody. His return to Uganda was unclear, and his wife, Dr. Kulthum Muzaata, was reportedly out of the country. Their relationship gained attention after the death of Kulthum Muzaata’s former husband, Sheikh Nuhu Muzaata Batte, leading to lavish ceremonies, including a bridal shower, an introduction ceremony (kwanjula), and a glamorous wedding.
