Loans Officer Arrested With 104 National IDs Belonging To Clients

Kampala (UG) | The Black Examiner – In Kampala, two individuals have been apprehended by the police for their involvement in a break-in at a company office, during which they stole 104 national identity cards that were being held as collateral, along with a sum of Shs million in cash.

The incident reportedly occurred on September 3, 2023, at approximately 7:30 p.m. The primary suspect, 22-year-old Evans Kwikiriza, who resides in Katuga East, Mitanda parish, Kiwunga subcounty in Ntugamo district, was employed as a loans officer at T.M.K. Loans Service on Kanaba-Ndejje Busabala road. Kwikiriza is alleged to have pilfered 104 national identity cards and Shs 4 million in cash from a secure location within the office.

This criminal act was a result of a collaboration between two individuals: Kwikiriza and Sam Rubogo, a former employee of the same company. Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesman Patrick Onyango disclosed that a tip-off led to the arrest of the suspects.

Subsequently, the Flying Squad Unit of the Police sprang into action, resulting in the apprehension of one of the suspects in Kanungu-Kihihi. A search of his belongings unveiled the national identity cards concealed within his travel bag.

As of the current moment, the detained suspects are held in custody at Jinja Road Police Station.
