Nebbi District | THE BLACK EXAMINER | Magistrate Grade 2 Kerican Peter Prosper Faces Charges for Misappropriating UGX 402 Million Allocated for Land Compensation

An investigation has uncovered that Magistrate Grade 2 Kerican Peter Prosper is facing charges for allegedly mishandling 402 million Ugandan Shillings designated for compensating his uncles and aunts for their land.

In January 2022, at Angal Lower Parish, Nyaravur Sub-County in Nebbi District, the beneficiaries entrusted him with their compensation, depositing it into his Housing Finance bank account, believing in his trustworthiness.

The funds, initially provided by the Ministry of Defence as compensation for land acquired by UPDF in 2001, were redirected for personal use.

Uganda Police spokesperson SCP Fred Enanga expressed his dismay, saying, “We are investigating how he utilized the money. It’s disheartening when individuals in positions of trust succumb to self-interest, wrongly seizing control of property they aren’t entitled to,” condemning such betrayals of trust against innocent civilians.
