An unidentified man in his late thirties was reportedly arrested last night in Nyakasanga West Cell, Nyamwamba Division, Kasese Municipality. He was apprehended after failing to identify himself to the local community.

The Police spokesperson for Rwenzori East Region, SP. Nelson Tumushiime, confirmed the arrest and stated that the suspect has been transferred to Kasese Central Police Station for further investigation. However, SP. Tumushiime did not disclose any specific details about the suspect and urged the community to remain calm.

According to Hajji Ramathan Monday, the Chairperson of Local Council One in Nyakasanga West Cell, the local community sought police intervention when they noticed an unfamiliar man carrying a bag from the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and making incoherent statements, leading to suspicions of him being linked to the ADF (Allied Democratic Forces).

In response to this incident, Hajji Ramathan called upon the public to stay vigilant and promptly report any individuals they find suspicious to the police and local authorities. He also strongly condemned acts of mob justice, emphasizing the importance of letting the proper legal processes take place.
