Masindi District | THE BLACK EXAMINER | In Masindi, Charles Baguma, a male councilor representing Kihuuba ward in the Masindi Municipal Council, is currently in police custody. The arrest follows the alleged theft of a pig owned by an individual identified as Kahunawe in Kihuuba Cell, Karujubu Division.

Kahunawe reported the loss of his pig to Masindi Central Police Station on Sunday at around 10 a.m. Subsequently, the police, accompanied by a sniffer dog, visited Kahunawe’s residence around 10:30 a.m. The sniffer dog led them to the male councilor’s home, where they discovered the pig had already been slaughtered.

Residents in the area have expressed doubts about the councilor’s claim that he purchased the pig from someone, as they have heard rumors of his involvement in theft in the past, albeit without concrete evidence.

Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the councilor’s arrest, stating that he is detained at Masindi Central Police Station while investigations are ongoing. The suspect has denied the allegations of pig theft, insisting that he bought it from another individual.
