Mbale Tigers To Set Up Mega Sh5.7B Table Tennis Academy

Mbale Tigers Table Tennis Club has unveiled ambitious plans to build a state of the art Table Tennis Academy, with an estimated value of 5.7 billion shillings (1.5 m USD) in honor of three decades of remarkable contributions.

Emmanuel Matsyetsye Koboyi, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Mbale Tigers Table Tennis Club, announced that this international academy complex will be situated in Maluku, Mbale City.

The facility will encompass an administration block, a multipurpose hall, athlete hostels, staff quarters, a business center, and lecture theaters for entertainment, hospital services, plus banking facilities.

During a press conference held at the Mbale Courts View Hotel over the weekend, Matsyetsye revealed that the club is organizing a 5-kilometer fundraising run on November 7, 2023, as part of a series of events spanning from November 6th to 12th to celebrate Mbale Tigers’ remarkable 30 years of existence.

Additional activities include the Mega Table Tennis Open Tournament and sports tourism.

Ludia Natunga, one of the first players at Mbale Tigers Table Tennis Club, shared her personal success story, expressing how table tennis has not only provided her with education but also enabled her to travel to various countries in the world, won uncountable medals, establish business connections, secure employment, and profoundly transform her life through networking.

Natunga further urged parents to not only prioritize football but also encourage their children to take up table tennis, emphasizing its accessibility and potential for rapid success.

Natunga proudly pointed out that Mbale Tigers has made history in Uganda by producing top-tier players for the national team, achieving success at continental and global championships.

She expressed her optimism that the construction of this state-of-the-art table tennis academy would significantly contribute to the promotion of the sport not only in Mbale but also throughout Uganda.
