Kagadi District | THE BLACK EXAMINER | Banarbars Tinkasiimire, the Member of Parliament for Buyaga County West, engaged in a confrontation with the Minister for Lands, Judith Nabakoba, concerning allegations of land grabbing in Ndaiga, Kagadi district.
Minister Nabakoba appeared before the Parliamentary Physical Infrastructure Committee to address a petition from Buyaga residents who were contesting the encroachment on their communal land by unidentified wealthy individuals.
The clash between Tinkasiimire and Minister Nabakoba unfolded when the minister denied being aware of the land issues in Ndaiga, despite reports that her office had been informed about the matter.
Tinkasiimire presented letters to the committee, confirming that the minister had been informed about the concerns and petitions and had even promised to visit the affected area.
Tinkasiimire accused the minister of accepting bribes from alleged land grabbers, a claim she vehemently denied and protested before the committee.
Subsequently, the committee’s chairperson, Tony Away, tasked the minister with establishing a timeline to resolve the Ndaiga dispute. She pledged to intervene and halt all land transactions or initiate the registration of disputed land in the Kibale-Kagadi region. She also mentioned plans to secure funding to deploy a team on the ground to investigate and find a solution to the issue.
