Museveni Directs Shs60m Monthly Support to Kingdoms

President Yoweri Museveni has issued a directive for the Parliament of Uganda to allocate Shs60m monthly to each recognized cultural institution to support their operations. Deputy Speaker Mr. Thomas Tayebwa revealed this during the wedding reception of His Majesty Kyabazinga William Gabula Nadiope IV and Her Royal Highness Jovia Mutesi at Igenge Palace in Jinja City. Mr. Tayebwa assured that Parliament would work towards implementing the President’s directive, emphasizing the importance of adequately facilitating the Kingdoms.

He urged the newly wedded Kyabazinga to capitalize on the momentum generated by Busoga, emphasizing the potential for transforming the sub-region. Mr. Tayebwa encouraged increased support to boost the economy of Busoga, noting the overwhelming contributions made by various individuals, including President Museveni, who donated 20 cows, and Mr. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who contributed 10 cows, among others.

As part of the post-wedding plans, the Prime Minister of Busoga, Mr. Joseph Muvawala, announced the Kingdom’s intention to commence the construction of a commercial plaza, aiming to generate revenue for the Kingdom.

The directive from President Museveni signifies a commitment to the cultural institutions in Uganda, with notable contributions from various figures towards the prosperity and development of Busoga Kingdom.
