KISORO, (Examiner) – Police in Kisoro district is having in its cells a 48 years old man a night watchman at Rwaramba secondary school for seriously assaulting his own wife who is now admitted at Kisoro hospital
The suspect Mwunvaneza Julius popularly known as Medard and his wife Uwimana Rose 30, are residents of Murambi village, Rwaramba parish in Nyakinama sub county
Speaking to Examiner Mfitumukiza Gideon, a police officer in charge of child and family protection unit revealed that it was around 09:00pm when the suspect one Julius inharmoniously assaulted his wife.
Quoting the area LC1 comments, Gideon disclosed that the couple conflicts arose from their alcoholic behaviours.
Gideon further counselled all couples to desist from alcoholism. “The escalating alcoholism needs to be checked, it has led to several family breakdowns in our district”, Afande Gideon said
Addressing journalists over the same, the Kisoro RDC Hajji Badru Sebyala disclosed that the rate of domestic violence among families in the district is on the rise.
He appealed to police and religious institutions to always foster harmonising gospel among the couples to cease confrontations. “I call upon police and religious institutions to counsel conflicting families”, Sebyala remarked
