ASAN and Abubakar Technical Services Bring New Hope to Apac Municipality’s Leadership with Accelerated Road Construction Progress
Apac municipality’s leadership has found renewed hope in the progress of road construction projects undertaken by ASAN and Abubakar Technical Services, funded under the Municipal Infrastructural Development-USMID program. The roads currently under construction, namely Chegere spanning 0.5 kilometers and Chawente spanning 0.6 kilometers, initially faced setbacks due to complaints of slow progress by the contracted company. Consequently, the contract period was extended until September of this year.
Mayor of Apac Municipal Council, Ongom Eyul, expressed satisfaction with the recent meeting held with the contractors, noting that it has yielded positive outcomes. The contractors have now displayed a heightened level of commitment by employing additional laborers. This development has instilled hope in Eyul and the council, as they anticipate the completion of the road tarmacking project by September. Currently, the contractors are focused on the construction of drainage channels, having successfully completed the main tarmacking work.
In light of the upcoming closure of the USMID program in December this year, Eyul revealed that the municipality has secured additional funding amounting to Shs 8 billion. This financial boost will be allocated to the tarmacking of 1.3 kilometers of roads, specifically Biacara and Ebula Lane. To facilitate this project, the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA) has mandated the municipality to procure a suitable contractor.
With ASAN and Abubakar Technical Services leading the way, Apac municipality is now witnessing a resurgence in optimism, as the accelerated pace of road construction breathes new life into the region.
