Summary:

  • The murder trial of Ugandan businessman Francis Onebe takes a dark turn as the prosecution presents evidence of mistreatment and suspicion surrounding the death of his wife, Immaculate.

The murder trial of Ugandan businessman Francis Onebe took a dark turn as the family of his late wife, Immaculate Onebe, demanded life imprisonment for him and his former security guard, Oriokot Bonny.

Okello John Charles Kiiza, Immaculate’s brother and the 9th witness, described a troubling dynamic within the marriage, alleging mistreatment by Onebe, including withholding salary and transportation within their jointly owned security company.

The discovery of Immaculate’s body in Onebe’s home’s septic tank intensified suspicions. Kiiza suggested Onebe’s family held resentment towards Immaculate, accusing her of witchcraft and family deaths, hinting at their potential involvement in her murder.

With the court adjourned until the next day, the prosecution’s case has significantly implicated Onebe, though the motive for the alleged murder remains unclear. The defence has yet to present its arguments, but the family’s testimony has cast serious doubt on Onebe’s innocence, placing significant pressure on him as the trial progresses.
