According to Ms. Semerita Biira, who is the Community Development Officer of Nyamwamba Division in Kasese Municipality, the formation of Sacco’s for youths is highly recommended to benefit from government programs.
The government has provided a grant of one hundred million shillings to all parish Sacco’s across the country. The grant is aimed at lending out money to beneficiaries at a 6% per annum interest rate.
The Parish Development Model emphasizes the approach of increasing production, processing, marketing, and service delivery at the grassroots level. During a recent radio interview, Ms. Semerita shared that some associations like Rukoki Integrated Youth Association and Kyondo Youth Development Association have already received funds.
However, Mr. Atuhere Masereka, a youth from Kizungu Cell, expressed his disappointment with the bureaucracy involved in obtaining the government funds. He said the process is challenging, especially for the illiterate population. On the other hand, Mr. Pimako Kasereka, the Local Council Three Chairperson for Nyamwamba Division, commended the government for extending services to the local community.
He called on everyone to work together towards the sustainability of government programs.
