KAMPALA, (Examiner) – The government has unveiled a significant initiative aimed at revitalizing Kampala, with the launch of a UGX 2 trillion plan under the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Authority Development Programme. Over the course of five years, this ambitious endeavor seeks to enhance infrastructure and service provision throughout the region.

At the program’s inauguration, Local Government Minister Raphael Magyezi underscored the project’s scope, which includes distributing nine vehicles to town clerks across the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area. Supported by funding from the World Bank, the initiative aims to alleviate pressure on services within the Central Business District by enhancing infrastructure and services across the entire metropolitan area.

Anticipated outcomes of the program include the overhaul of roads, schools, and markets spanning Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono, and Mpigi districts, heralding a comprehensive transformation for the region.
