KAMPALA, (Examiner) – Leaders in the industry, policymakers, and professionals in cloud and cybersecurity recently convened in Kampala, Uganda, for the East Africa Cloud and Cybersecurity Roadshow. Hosted at the Four Points by Sheraton, this event zeroed in on the ever-evolving realms of cloud computing and cybersecurity.

Marking its debut in Uganda, the roadshow, orchestrated by dx5, the driving force behind Africa’s technology scene, and fueled by BUI East Africa, a leading information technology firm, stands as a pivotal series of gatherings aimed at propelling East Africa’s technological frontier forward. Featuring keynote addresses and interactive sessions led by experts from across the region, the event provided profound insights into the latest technological trends and hurdles.

Hasmukh Chudasama, the General Manager for East & Southern Africa at BUI, took center stage with his keynote speech titled “You’ve Been Hacked. What Next? Your Breach Response Plan.” In his presentation, Chudasama delineated the immediate steps organizations must take post-hack, encompassing incident containment, investigation procedures, and effective communication strategies. Attendees gleaned valuable knowledge on mitigating damages and swiftly restoring operations in the aftermath of a breach.

As cyber threats increasingly harness sophisticated AI tools, defenders are compelled to refine their strategies. A panel discussion at the event delved into how organizations can leverage cloud-stored data to identify and neutralize AI-powered cyber threats with greater efficacy.

In another session, Allan Lwala, Cybersecurity and Forensics Lead at Xylem Networks, delved into the evolving role of cybersecurity professionals, spotlighting pressing industry issues, common pitfalls, and the challenges confronting the next generation of cybersecurity experts.

Following the success of similar events in Tanzania and Rwanda, the roadshow now sets its sights on Ethiopia, with the next installment scheduled for May 30, 2024.
