Kayunga Man Killed by Suspected Assailant

On the afternoon of April 27, 2024, tragedy struck Kankala, Bamusunta ward, Nakifuma-Naggalama Town council, as Asuman Walusimbi, aged 27, met a violent end. Walusimbi, a resident of Kankala village, was allegedly attacked by an assailant known as “Bakali,” the son of defense Wasswa Lubega, as recounted by eyewitness Ssekabembe Madinah, the victim’s wife.

The sequence of events unfolded when Madinah returned from Begas bar, owned by Nalongo Shamsi, to find her husband asleep in their rental house. Upon knocking, Walusimbi opened the door, only to be struck fatally by Bakali with a log. Despite a valiant struggle, Walusimbi succumbed to his injuries.

Nakiryowa Agnes and Ronald, the landlord and caretaker, were the first responders to arrive at the scene of the crime, but their efforts were in vain.

The police swiftly took action, arresting suspect Bukenya Rogers and Ssekabembe Madinah to aid in their investigation. The deceased’s body was transported to Kayunga Referral Hospital for postmortem analysis, while statements from witnesses were diligently recorded.
