Matale Sub County Agriculture Extension worker Rosemary Nanyonga and Assistant Veterinary Officer Mathew Kasigwa are facing criticism for alleged absenteeism and failure to provide adequate guidance to farmers.

During a government program monitoring session led by District Chairperson Godfrey Muwonge Kasanga and other officials, concerns were raised regarding reports from farmers citing insufficient support from the staff, leading to subpar yields.

The investigation revealed that Mathew Kasigwa has been absent from duty for over four years without explanation. In response, Rosemary Nanyonga defended herself by stating that she cannot personally reach every farmer and encouraged them to seek her assistance.

Regarding Kasigwa’s absence, Nanyonga claimed ignorance, stating he had requested study leave four years ago, and she is unaware of his current whereabouts.

Chairperson Kasanga admonished them to prioritize their responsibilities and cease absenteeism, warning of potential disciplinary action if the behavior persists.
