Summary:

  • Flooding from heavy rains in Kirembe yesterday blocked roads and bridges with debris, isolating the area. Local council chairperson Laurence Bwambale urged Kasese Municipal Council to address the issue, as residents reported significant impacts on businesses and crop damage.

KASESE, (Examiner) – Kirembe experienced a major traffic halt yesterday after debris from flooding streams rendered roads and bridges impassable. Two crucial bridges—one linking Kirembe to Wasewanaba and another connecting Kirembe to Kasese town—were blocked, isolating residents from the surrounding areas.

Local council chairperson Mr. Laurence Bwambale reported that Sunday night’s heavy rains caused streams to flood, carrying logs that clogged culverts and spread water across the roads, making them unusable.

“This situation severely impacts local businesses,” Mr. Bwambale stated, urging Kasese Municipal Council to urgently address the issue and assist the affected residents.

Many residents also expressed concern about the destruction of their crops due to the downpour, calling on the government for immediate support.
