Minister announces government plan to release PDM funds this week

The government intends to deliver the final Shs50 million for each Parish Development Model Sacco in Uganda by the end of this week, according to State Minister for Finance Henry Musasizi, who is also in charge of General Duties.
The comments were delivered by Mr. Musasizi at the weekend’s reopening of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in the Rubanda District.
It was closed for renovations around seven months ago, which are thought to have cost Shs300 million.

The Kabale Diocese includes the Catholic Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

“As you are all aware, Shs50 million has already been deposited into the bank accounts of all Parish Development Model Saccos in Uganda. To create a total of Sh100 million in revolving funds for the fiscal year 2022–2023, the government would distribute the remaining Sh50 million to each Parish Development Model Sacco in the nation before the end of next (this) week, according to Mr. Musasizi.
He continued by saying that the government had allocated Sh100 billion in the budget for the 2023–2024 fiscal year for the Emyooga program to support skill development. Enterprises that were not included in the PDM Saacos are expected to benefit from this.
We urge the heads of religious organizations to use their structures in light of all the well-funded government programs on eradicating poverty, Mr. Musasizi stated.

The pastor also proposed spending Sh10 million on new pews for the church.
The Kabale Diocese’s pastoral coordinator, Fr. Lubein Mubangizi, spoke on behalf of Kabale Diocese Bishop Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira and cautioned the Christians against practicing “devil” worship.
“Let the reopening of our renovated church serve as a gentle reminder to you that your relationship with God needs to be refreshed. “Those who worship the devil should not be allowed to enter this lovely church; only the saints should,” he remarked.
“I plead to you to preserve this area sacred,” he continued, “just as the Muslims take off their shoes at the entry to their mosques. To purify yourself before entering a location so sacred, always use the holy waters at your churches’ entrances.

Moses Kamuntu, a member of parliament for Rubanda West, encouraged the government to address the district’s water shortage problem.
The Rubanda District Woman MP, Ms. Prossy Begumisa Akampurira, meanwhile, urged parents to constantly keep an eye on their children’s moral behavior and intellectual progress at school by staying in touch with the faculty members and other school officials.
