MITYANA, (Examiner) – Residents of Mityana District were shocked after a local man, known only as Musiramu, was shot dead during a suspected security operation against Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) elements. The incident occurred at around 11 pm on Tuesday when armed security personnel in black uniforms entered the village.

Witness Derrick Senyonga recounted that security operatives knocked on Musiramu’s door, and when he did not open it, they forced entry and shot him as he tried to flee. Prior to the shooting, neighbors were ordered back into their homes by the operatives.

Musiramu’s body was taken to Mityana General Hospital by the operatives. Local defense secretary Apollo Kironde described Musiramu as a friendly person and doubted any rebel connections. Area councillor George William Katuramu called for a clear explanation from security agencies to dispel rumors and speculation.

Both Wamala Regional Police Commander Racheal Kawala and police spokesperson Fred Enanga declined to comment on the incident, and no official statement had been released by Thursday morning.
