KAMPALA, (Examiner) – The Nyendo-Mukungwe MP, Mathias Mpuuga addressed his supporters in Masaka, announcing that he will undertake a consultative tour throughout the region to gather voter opinions before deciding on his next steps.

“I will visit you village by village; you can ask me questions, we will have discussions, and then I will reveal my next course of action,” he stated.

Mpuuga made these comments shortly after attending the funeral of Pasikali Ssekasamba, a member of the National Unity Platform (NUP) and a respected businessman who recently passed away from a heart condition in London.

During the funeral, tensions flared as NUP president Bobi Wine clashed verbally with Kimanya-Kabonera MP Hon Abed Bwanika. Bobi Wine criticized Mpuuga, alleging he had been “bribed” by President Yoweri Museveni.

Bobi Wine expressed frustration over the need to guide mature party members while simultaneously opposing President Museveni. “It is unfortunate that I have to correct these elders. I face the challenge of fighting the enemy with one hand while dealing with my own people holding me back with the other.”

Mpuuga, who was not given the opportunity to speak at the funeral, was seen gesturing in disagreement with Bobi Wine’s accusations.

Following the funeral, Mpuuga and Bwanika addressed a small group of supporters, announcing an upcoming consultative meeting. Bwanika proclaimed Mpuuga as “our leader” and urged the people of Masaka to distance themselves from the main NUP party and its regalia.

“Those overalls of theirs, you should not wear them again; they are meant to be worn with diapers,” he said. “Here in Masaka, we are banning NUP overalls. We will show you the appropriate attire at our meeting on May 21st.”

Mpuuga questioned Bobi Wine’s commitment to reconciling with party members and declared himself as “your lead fighter,” asserting his resolve not to be swayed by current events. “Nobody brought us into this fight. Those who are now benefiting from it learned from us what to do,” he added.
