Authorities are currently investigating the events leading to the tragic death of a three-year-old boy in Namisindwa District who was hacked to death on Friday night

Police identified the deceased as Frank Mutambo, a resident of Busomo Village, Namisindwa Parish in Bupoto Sub County.

The Elgon region police spokesperson said police are hunting for a 20-year-old youth believed to have killed the child.

“It’s said that on Friday at around 5 o’clock the suspect repeatedly cut the deceased’s head and legs. While in the garden with another young girl, the victim’s mother overheard the victim sobbing. The victim was lying down with cuts on her head and legs when the young girl arrived on the scene, and the suspect was fleeing the scene of the crime, according to Taitika.

They raised an alert, which attracted neighbors and the Bupoto Sub County LC3 Chairperson Damascus Makeme, who summoned the police, the speaker continued.

The police denounced child abuse and urged people to report any instances of child abuse and violations of children’s rights.

However, Taitika stated that the murder’s motive is the subject of an investigation.

The child’s body had been brought to the Mbale City mortuary for a postmortem as of the time of publication.
