Around 150 students from Nakanyonyi Senior Secondary School in Nagalama, Mukono District, have been hospitalized due to suspected food poisoning. The authorities have taken samples of the food they consumed to the Government Analytical Laboratory in Kampala for testing as part of ongoing investigations, according to Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy spokesperson of Kampala Metropolitan Police.Reports suggest that some of the students are in critical condition.

According to a teacher at the school, the students had supper at 7 pm on Wednesday, after which they started experiencing stomachaches.

During their prep time, some students developed stomachaches, while others suffered from diarrhea. The school provided them with some tablets, but the situation worsened the following morning, with some students even losing consciousness.

As of now, local authorities, including the deputy RDC, district chairperson, Internal Security Organisation operatives, and school management, are engaged in a security meeting to determine the cause of the incident. Additionally, personnel from the Police Evidence Response Unit are at the scene to gather further evidence.
