Police Officer Dies After Sudden Collapse in Office

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Darlington Eiru, the officer in charge of the Clock Tower, fainted in his office and was subsequently taken to Nsambya Hospital, where medical staff pronounced him dead.

The heartbreaking news was confirmed by Luke Owoyesigire, the deputy police spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police. “Yes, that’s our OC Clock Tower. He became unconscious in the office today, was rushed to Nsambya Hospital, and later pronounced dead,” Owoyesigire said.

The family of the late ASP Eiru, led by Hon. Jonathan Ebwalu, MP of Soroti West Division, released an announcement stating that the body has been handed over to funeral services for management. “The Hon. Jonathan Ebwalu, MP Soroti West Division, on behalf of the family of the late Mzee James Peter Eiru, in conjunction with the Uganda Police Force, with deep sorrow, announce the untimely death of their son, Assistant Superintendent of Police Darlington Eiru, who has been the OC Station Clock Tower, Kampala,” the announcement reads in part.

ASP Eiru collapsed and passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024. A funeral ceremony will be held at St. Phillips and Andrews Church in Mukono on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 12:00, followed by a vigil at his Mukono house, Hon. Ebwalu posted.

Additionally, there will be a funeral service at St. Peter’s Cathedral Soroti on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at 2 PM. ASP Darlington Eiru will be buried on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at their ancestral home in Oderai Cell, Oderai Ward, Soroti West Division, Hon. Ebwalu added.
