KAMPALA, (Examiner) — Police officials have confirmed they are currently unable to ascertain the location of Paul Akamba, Member of Parliament for Busiki County. Mr. Akamba, recently released on bail, was reportedly reapprehended in a forceful manner at the Anti-Corruption Court premises in Kampala, shortly after his initial release. According to Richard Rugambwa, legal counsel for Mr. Akamba, the MP’s location remains unknown as of the latest update provided to Chief Magistrate Joan Aciro at the court.

The incident, which occurred three days ago, has sparked controversy amidst accusations of corruption involving Mr. Akamba and two other legislators. The charges were brought forth subsequent to an investigation ordered by President Museveni.

Fred Enanga, spokesperson for the police, addressed reporters at the weekly briefing from the Kampala headquarters, stating, “We have been actively seeking information on Mr. Akamba’s whereabouts without success thus far. Once we receive any updates, we will promptly share them.”

As of last evening, Mr. Enanga had not issued any further updates on the matter. Meanwhile, concerns continue to mount regarding the circumstances surrounding Mr. Akamba’s recent rearrest, reminiscent of darker periods in Uganda’s history.
