A court was informed that the investigation into the murder of Daniel Bbosa, former leader of the Ndiga (sheep) clan in Buganda, is nearing completion.
Bbosa, aged 72 and director of Transa Electrical, was shot dead in his car near his home in Kikandwa Zone, Lungujja, Rubaga Division, Kampala. The prosecution alleges that on February 25, 2024, the accused, along with others still at large, unlawfully caused Bbosa’s death with malice aforethought.
State Attorney Caroline Mpumwire informed Mwanga II Court on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, that the police are finalizing their investigations. “Inquiries into the matter are almost complete,” Mpumwire told Principal Grade One Magistrate Adams Byarugaba.
In response, Magistrate Byarugaba further remanded the five suspects to Luzira Prison until August 22, 2024, when they will return to court for an update on the investigation status.

Upon completing the probe, the police will inform the Director of Public Prosecutions, who will then notify the court by formulating an indictment. The committal papers, including the indictment, will be forwarded to the High Court, which has jurisdiction over murder cases. The magistrate’s court only has the authority to mention such cases and update suspects on the investigation progress.
The accused are Noah Lujja, 21, Harriet Nakiguli, 40, Joseph Nakabale, 47, Ezra Mayanja, 44, and Milly Naluwenda, 46. Lujja is a mason from Kabanga village in Mpigi town council; Nakiguli is a peasant from Nkere zone in Kawempe division; Nakabale is a painter from Gala village in Mpigi town council, and Mayanja is a resident of Kiganda zone in Kawempe division, Kampala. Naluwenda, the secretary of the Kisekwa Cultural Court of Buganda, resides in Kitunzi zone 7, Rubaga division, Kampala district.
The accused face charges of murder under sections 188 and 189 of the Penal Code Act Cap 120. If convicted, they could face the maximum sentence of death.
