Police in Mukono District are into a murder investigation that happened on Sunday and involved a 25-year-old Uganda Christian University student.
Tugume Kadili is accused of shooting Rudeny Agaba, a student at UCU’s Mukono Campus and a resident of Kiwanga in the Mukono District, in the afternoon at the Meru Fuel station, according to the police.

“Preliminary investigations suggest that a dispute arose between a private security guard identified as Tugume Kadili, aged 27, and the deceased prompted the shooting,” the Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, Mr Luke Owoyesigyire said.

According to ASP Owoyesigyire, Agaba allegedly tried to scale a wall barrier inside the security officer’s designated area of deployment, escalating the situation to the point where the guard had to shoot him.

The victim received prompt medical care, upon arrival, he was later declared dead, the speaker said.

Two cartridge casings and an army green vehicle with the license plate UAW403S that had a suspected bullet hole were found by the police at the location.

A firearm that may have been used in the shooting was also found. According to ASP Owoyesigyire, live ammunition was discovered close to the alleged bloody area, and all of these items were taken as evidence.

At the Seeta Police Station, Tugume is being held after being taken into custody.
“The Mukono Police Division is wholly committed to carrying out a comprehensive investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident,” it said. As we carefully try to compile all the essential information, we implore the people to maintain their composure and patience. ASP Owoyesigyire continued, “Any more updates or important developments will be communicated in due time.
