KAMPALA, (Examiner) – The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has announced an extension of the national population and housing census period to May 25, 2024. This decision comes in response to initial challenges such as login difficulties and incomplete mapping, which affected some enumeration areas.

UBOS Executive Director and Census Commissioner, Dr. Chris N. Mukiza, highlighted the importance of inclusivity in the census process. “We want to ensure that everyone is counted, and no one is left behind. This extension will allow us to reach all households and individuals who may have missed the initial enumeration period,” he stated.

During this extension, households that have not yet been counted are encouraged to schedule an appointment with their LC1 Chairpersons to agree on a convenient date and time for enumeration.

Supervisors are instructed to ensure thorough coverage and maintain quality assurance throughout this extended period.

The census, which commenced on May 10, aims to gather essential data on population size, distribution, characteristics, housing conditions, and amenities. This information is crucial for informed development planning, policy-making, and resource allocation.

Don’t miss the chance to be counted! Contact your LC1 Chairperson today to schedule your enumeration and ensure your voice contributes to shaping Uganda’s future.
