Uganda Prisons Announces Major Officer Appointments and Transfers

KAMPALA, (Examiner) – In a significant move at the Uganda Prisons Headquarters, Commissioner General of Prisons, Can. Dr. J.O.R. Byabashaija, announced a series of strategic appointments, transfers, and leaves for various officers.

Prominent among the appointments is Ms. Prossy Geraldine Najjuma, CP, Industries, who has been named Acting Senior Commissioner of Prisons in Charge of Industries. Additionally, Ms. Stella Nabunya, CP, RPC Kampala Extra Region, has been transferred to the Prisons Headquarters to assume the role of Commissioner of Prisons in Charge of Health Services, with Francis Xavier Elubu, ACP, stepping in as RPC Kampala Extra Region.

Returning from leave, Fred Kajubi Kayongo, ACP, has been appointed Acting Commissioner of Prisons in Charge of Education Services. Ronald Godie, ACP, formerly RPC Eastern Region, has been reassigned to Mid-Western Region, Masindi, with Joseph Otai, SSP, taking over as RPC Eastern Region.

Other notable transfers include Joseph Semate Karubanga, ACP, RPC Central Region, moving to the Prisons Headquarters for legal advisory and human rights duties, and Robert Tagoola Nalmuli, SSP, assuming the role of RPC Central Region. Moses Ben Kuboi, SP, has been appointed DPC Wakiso, while Harriet Namakoye, SP, has transferred to Mpigi District as DPC.

Catherine Okware, SP, returns from leave to become DPC Mayuge District. Ibrahim Klsaku, SP, has been reassigned as DPC Kyotera, with Peter Isingoma, ASP, replacing him at Nakasunga Prisons. Victoria Achan, SP, now oversees Ntenjeru Prisons, while Felix Abner Mugiya, SASP, goes on accumulated leave.

Stella Salume Atoo, SP, has been confirmed as OC Luzira Women Prison, and Annet Babirye, SP, has transferred to Nyabuhikye Prisons as OC. Amos Niwahereza, SP, is the new Officer in Charge of Fort Portal Main Prisons, Katojo, replacing Patrick Busuulwa, SP, who is attending a course.

Ivan Nuwagaba, SP, moves to Kiboga Prisons as OC, with Amos Alinaitwe, SASP, taking over at Kyegegwa Prisons. Florence Kyaligonza, SP, has been appointed Deputy OC Mechanical Workshop. Jackson Koojo, SASP, is the new DPC Lwengo.

Lillian Kusasira, SASP, has been transferred to Bugembe Prisons as OC, and Daisy Atimango, ASP, becomes OC Jinja Women Prisons. Harold Wasswa, SASP, has been appointed Staff Officer, Hoima District, while Enid Sarah Ayot, ASP, takes over as OC of Nakatunya Prisons.

Further appointments include Dickson Obita, ASP, as Officer in Charge of Kagoma Prisons, replacing Aggrey Ahimbisibwe, P.O.I., who is on leave. Paul Emmanuel Opolot, ASP, moves to Oyam Prisons as OC, and Karim Sserunkuma, ASP, attends a course.

Alex Magoola, ASP, has been appointed OC Nyimbwa Prisons, with Koradi Twijukye, ASP, transferring to Isimba Prisons Farm. Bosco Ocen, ASP, is the new OC of Luzira Barracks, and Justin Eilu, ASP, has been confirmed as OC Kigo Prisons.

Rosemary Nabayunga, ASP, takes over as OC Buwambo Prisons, with Raymond Obala, P.O.I., transferring to Budaka Prisons as OC. Benjamin Lodda Magoola, ASP, is now OC Sheema Prisons, and Christopher Mugisha, ASP, becomes OC Gilgil Prisons.

Enid Charity Ibuyat Pedun, ASP, has been appointed Deputy OC Luzira Women Prisons, while Patience Nambuya, Cadet ASP, transfers to Nyabuhikye Prisons as Deputy OC. Charles Bitswatswa, P.O.I., is now OC Buhweju Prisons, and Rita Matuuka, P.O.I., moves to Mbarara Women Prisons as OC.

Samuel Ochan, P.O.I., becomes OC of Butuntumula Prisons, with George Albert Kibwota, P.O.I., taking over as OC Kidera Prisons. Moses Ocen, P.O.I., is appointed Staff Officer, Oyam District, and Grace Mpoya, P.O.I., becomes Staff Officer, Mayuge District.

Caroline Ikareut, P.O.I., has been appointed Deputy OC at Mbarara Women Prisons, while Mike Khode, P.O.I., reports for duty at Pece Prisons. Paul Oryem, P.O.I., moves to Orom Tikao Prisons, and William Odongo, P.O.I., reports to Odina Prisons.

These appointments, transfers, and leaves take immediate effect, with all handovers and takeovers supervised by RPCs and RDCs.
