Summary:

  • The Uganda National Roads Authority, assisted by the Police, removed a long-abandoned low-bed hauler from Kyaliwajjala suburb after five years. Rumors of supernatural occurrences surrounding the truck added intrigue to the event.

The Uganda National Roads Authority, with assistance from the Police, successfully removed a long-abandoned low-bed hauler from the Kireka-Namugongo Road in Kyaliwajjala suburb on Saturday afternoon. According to UNRA spokesperson Allan Ssempebwa, mechanics aided in disconnecting the truck’s head before it was towed to a nearby yard.

A crowd gathered to observe the operation, causing disruptions to traffic flow. The truck, formerly owned by Mr. Robert Tumusiime, a former marketing manager of Tata Uganda, had been left near Shell Kyaliwajjala for five years after his business collapsed following a failed vehicle delivery deal with the government.

Rumors circulated that voices sometimes emanated from the vehicle, discouraging attempts to tow it.
