The body of Adrian Tumwesigye, a Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) soldier who was tragically shot dead in Karamoja, is set to be buried this Thursday. Hailing from Nyamiyaga A cell, Kazindiro Parish, Bugangari Sub County, Rukungiri District, Tumwesigye’s family received the news of his passing from GISO Bugangari Sub County, Amini Onzo, who was contacted by the force.
Amini Onzo conveyed that the exact circumstances of Tumwesigye’s death had not been disclosed yet. However, the UPDF instructed him to notify the family about the upcoming sendoff service, scheduled for August 24th, 2023.
Ampaire Aguripina, the late soldier’s biological sister, shared that they had received unconfirmed reports stating that Tumwesigye was shot while alongside fellow officers engaged in countering cattle rustlers in the Karamoja region.
Efforts to reach the UPDF spokesperson for comment proved unsuccessful, as their known contact number was inaccessible at the time of this report.
