Saturday, September 23, 2023

Habib Buwembo, a prominent activist affiliated with the National Unity Platform (NUP), has been detained by the police along with two others on charges of orchestrating an unlawful assembly.

Buwembo was apprehended on the afternoon of Friday, December 22, 2023, as he attempted to access his office in Nalukolongo, Rubaga Division, Kampala district.

The arrest also targeted Sharif Kawooya and Nasser Katende, both residents of Busega in Rubaga Division.

Buwembo had scheduled a press conference at the Social Justice Center but was intercepted by law enforcement before he could address the media. He was subsequently escorted into a police van and transported to the Nateete police post, where he remains in custody, awaiting a court appearance.

Prior to his detention, Buwembo had intended to address the media on two primary issues: corruption and the release of political detainees.bauchtasche eastpak selected frakke brun t shirt gr 98 hq8716 Italy hp 5230 patrone Switzerland vincha sexy sbelt horny toad clothing kurtka tommy hilfiger czarna damska adidas shoes new design best jordans grzebień do otwierania zamków boss autoradio adidas nmd girls xbox 360 freezing stetson straw cowboy hats

“These are the very topics I sought to discuss, but the government’s disregard for free expression prevented me from voicing these concerns,” Buwembo expressed to our reporter before being confined to the cells.

Buwembo and his co-accused are scheduled to appear in court for their hearing on Monday morning, September 25, 2023.
