Over 30 FDC Members Pick NEC Nomination Forms

Kampala, Uganda | THE BLACK EXAMINER | Over 30 members of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) have already obtained nomination forms to compete for the 38 available positions on the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).

Boniface Toterebuka Bamwenda, the Chairman of the party’s Electoral Commission (EC), made this announcement during a press briefing at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi. He stated that the process of collecting nomination forms began on Friday of the previous week and will conclude on Tuesday, October 12, 2023, urging interested party members to act promptly.

Bamwenda outlined the 38 positions to be filled, including party President and deputies, Secretary General and deputies, party Chairman and Deputy, among others. The delegates’ conference is scheduled for October 6, 2023.

Nomination fees were also specified: UGX 5 million for the party President, UGX 1.5 million for deputies, UGX 3 million for the Secretary General, UGX 1 million for deputies, UGX 4 million for the party Chairman, UGX 1 million for deputies, and UGX 200,000 for any other position.

Bamwenda encouraged eligible party members to actively participate in the process to strengthen the party at the grassroots level.

Furthermore, he revealed that the party’s EC has successfully conducted elections in 125 out of the 150 districts in Uganda, which accounts for 83% of the total districts, to fill lower leadership positions. For the remaining districts that missed the elections, voting will take place after the delegates’ conference on the 6th.
