Kagadi District | THE BLACK EXAMINER | Christopher Tinkamanyire, the Parish Chief of Pacwa in Pacwa sub-county, Kagadi, has been apprehended by the police on allegations of embezzling One Million Shillings.
It is claimed that Tinkamanyire, in collaboration with Simon Agaba, the Chairperson of the Pacwa-Nyamigisa Parish Development Model-PDM SACCO (who is presently evading capture), conspired to withdraw the funds from the bank account of Evelyne Mbabazi, a 53-year-old member of the same Parish Development Model-PDM SACCO.
Throughout the current month, the two officials repeatedly informed Mbabazi that her money had not yet been deposited into her bank account, even though all other SACCO members had received their funds.
Mbabazi grew suspicious and reported the matter to Kagadi police, who initiated an investigation.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson, has disclosed that Tinkamanyire was arrested on Wednesday and transported to Kagadi Central Police Station, where charges of theft have already been filed against him.
Hakiza explained that Tinkamanyire confessed to colluding with Agaba to withdraw the money from the account but failing to deliver it to its rightful owner.
According to Hakiza, the police have recovered the stolen funds from Tinkamanyire, and efforts to locate Agaba, who is still at large, are ongoing.
