Rukiga District | The Black Examiner – Police in Rukiga district have registered a hit and run fatal accident involving an unknown motor vehicle that left one dead along Kabale Ntungamo road.

The deceased has been identified as Bruce Bayabwengi 64yrs a pedestrian and a resident of Kanaba cell Nyabungo ward Muhanga town council Rukiga who was knocked dead by a yet to be identified speeding car.

This accident occurred on 25/08/2023 at about 01:00hrs at Bukinda trading centre along Kabale Ntungamo highway in Rukiga district

ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi Sub region spokesperson alleges that, the deceased who was from a certain bar within Bukinda trading centre, as he was crossing the highway to his near by home which is also along the road while drunk was knocked down dead on spot by the unknown speeding car which was from Ntungamo heading to Kabale side.

Subsequently, the Scene was visited, driver and motor vehicle not known, body of the deceased taken home waiting doctors to do postmortem before it’s handed over to relatives for a decent burial.

Maate confided to press that inquiries into the matter are on going and efforts to get the involved motor vehicle impounded are being made

The case file of hit and run fatal accident was registered at Rukiga CPS under reference number T.A.R 20/2023.
