Kenya, EA | THE BLACK EXAMINER | On Monday morning, a police officer participating in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) was killed, while his colleague was seriously hurt.

At the time of his death, the policeman was escorting KCSE exam papers to Mahero Secondary School in Alego Usonga sub-county, Siaya County.

According to a police officer with access to early investigations, the supervisor and another colleague were attacked by unidentified individuals while they were together.

They had just got off the bus that took them to pick up the papers at Siaya County headquarters, but the bus was unable to get to the school because of the poor condition of the road, so they got out a few metres away from the building.

Given the gravity of the situation, the officer, who wished to remain nameless, claimed that after encountering the attackers, who attacked them with rudimentary weaponry, one of them was killed and the other suffered severe injuries.

It is said that the team’s teachers managed to flee the attack and took sanctuary in a neighbouring homestead. It is reported that the assailants stole the officers’ weapons before fleeing. While the corpse was being registered at the facility mortuary, security personnel hurried to the site and sent the injured officer to a Siaya County referral hospital for treatment.

The Siaya County Security Team is still on the scene of the attack in order to conduct a thorough investigation and provide a report.
