Ntungamo District | THE BLACK EXAMINER | In Ntungamo, the police have confiscated a blue Fuso Fighter, registration number UBN 394 X, laden with Kazero Energy drink alcoholic Kumbucha manufactured in Uganda.
The interception occurred at a fuel station in Ntungamo Municipality last week, following meticulous tracking using police cameras from Kampala, as stated by DPC Ntungamo, Hannington Kanimi Busheija. The Fuso had attracted surveillance due to suspected tax defaults owed to the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).
Upon examination of the impounded Fuso, authorities uncovered numerous boxes of Kazero Energy drink alcoholic Kumbucha lacking the required URA seals. This indicated an attempt to smuggle the beverages into Kabale and Kisoro Districts without fulfilling tax obligations.
DPC Ntungamo Busheija emphasized that the case would be forwarded to URA customs for further action. Additionally, the individuals involved in the smuggling operation will be transferred to Revenue Intelligence for a comprehensive investigation.
