In the footage, a man clad in a black jacket and white shoes is observed using a pistol to attack Bugingo’s car. It seems the shooter mistakenly believed Bugingo, the target, was seated in the co-driver’s seat.

A reliable source, opting for anonymity to protect ongoing investigations, confirmed, “The CCTV footage captured the lone gunman in action. After discharging multiple rounds, the assailant swiftly concealed the weapon before fleeing the crime scene.”

The video also depicts the gunman vanishing into the darkness as bystanders scattered to evade the gunfire.

Responding to inquiries about the identification of the assailant, a senior official remarked, “The footage of the shooting is not sufficiently clear; it is somewhat grainy and of low quality.”

To incentivize information sharing, the police announced a Shs 20 million reward on Monday for details leading to the gunman’s arrest and the recovery of the weapon. However, the suspect’s photo has not been disclosed.

Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, stated, “Our dedicated team at the Special Investigations Division has commenced a meticulous investigation. We have gathered witness statements, obtained relevant reports, accessed CCTV footage from public and private cameras, and secured forensic and ballistic reports for evaluation.”

He questioned the identity of the criminals, pondering whether they belonged to the ADF or another elusive group.
