Kiruhura District | THE BLACK EXAMINER | The burial of the slain businessman, Henry Katanga, took place on Monday, November 6, 2023, in Orwera Kikatsi, Kiruhura District, despite a court order issued to halt the proceedings.
After the death of Henry Katanga the previous week, his mother, Milielly Kyabuhooro Katanga, quickly sought an interim court order at the Family Division of Kampala to prevent Molly Katanga, the slain businessman’s wife, and her family from burying him in Kiruhura District. Henry Katanga’s mother desired her son to be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Kariro Rubindi, Kashari, Mbarara District.
However, Molly Katanga’s family proceeded with the burial in Kiruhura District, which incited anger among members of the deceased businessman’s family and friends.
One of Henry Katanga’s close associates, with whom this website spoke, vehemently criticized Molly Katanga’s family for promoting criminal behavior driven by personal gain, greed, impunity, and ignorance.
“It is disheartening to witness the perpetuation of criminality due to greed, impunity, and ignorance,” he expressed. He further added, “The situation becomes even more tragic when we witness the disrespectful treatment of the deceased and the denial of mourning and burial rights to the grieving mother, siblings, nephews, and nieces. Such injustices perpetuate a cycle of pain and suffering.”
Another friend commented, “The murder of Henry Katanga serves as an eye-opener for all of us. Society must strive for justice and fairness for all, ensuring that criminals face the consequences of their actions and that victims receive empathy and support.”
Henry Katanga, the 61-year-old slain businessman, was discovered dead in his matrimonial home in Mbuya, a Kampala suburb. It is alleged that he had a dispute with his wife, which ultimately resulted in her shooting him in the head.
The wife, a key suspect in the murder, is reportedly unconscious and hospitalized.
