In Rukungiri’s Nyarushanje Subcounty, at least six pupils from Rubirizi Primary School have been admitted to Kisizi Hospital following suspicions that they consumed expired Jolly Jus.

The incident took place on Thursday morning, shortly after the break time, when one of the pupils purchased a packet of Jolly Jus and shared it with others. The pupils mixed the beverage with water using empty plastic bottles.

After consuming the mixture, the pupils returned to their classrooms. Within minutes, several of them began experiencing stomach pain, prompting the school administrators to intervene.

Chance Moses, the headteacher of the school, confirmed the incident. Presently, six pupils are undergoing treatment at Kisizi Hospital. Medical professionals are awaiting confirmation from doctors regarding the cause of the stomach complications that arose after consuming the beverage.
