Suspected Mob Kills Man in Kabale

Police in Kabale District are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 22-year-old man, whose lifeless body was found in Kirigime Central Cell, Kirigime Ward, Southern Division of Kabale Municipality.

The deceased, identified as Martin Muhereza, worked as a casual laborer and was a resident of Nyarugorogoro village, Kitanga Parish, Kashambya Sub County, in Rukiga district. The discovery was made this morning at approximately 08:30 AM.

According to Elly Maate, the spokesperson for the Kigezi region police, a murder report was promptly filed. The crime scene was visited by a Homicide team from Kabale, led by Deputy Crime Investigations Officer (D/CID/O) D/SP Mukama Hakim, who thoroughly examined and documented the area.

Maate revealed that preliminary findings at the scene suggest that the deceased may have been the victim of a mob attack. Several items, including flat shoes and a stone with suspected blood stains, were recovered as potential exhibits.

The body was later removed from the scene and transported to the mortuary for a postmortem examination after positive identification by Muhereza Martin’s relatives.

To aid in the ongoing investigations, a number of suspects have been apprehended at Kabale Central Police station. The particulars of these individuals are being withheld to prevent interference with the investigation process.
