Rukungiri District | THE BLACK EXAMINER | Two People have lost their lives, and two others sustained injuries in a tragic traffic accident along the Rukungiri-Kanungu road in Rukungiri District.
The incident occurred today at 4:00 PM in Rwengiri Village, Rukungiri District, involving two red Bajaj motorcycles with registration numbers UEW 244H and UEO 609L.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, identified the deceased as Buganda Julius (50) from Nyabitete village, Nyabitete parish, Bugangari sub-county, and Bananas Niwebyona (40) from Omirita cell, Kasindo Parish, Bugangari Sub-County in Rukungiri District.
The injured victims were named as Andkuda Deo (36) from Nyamayenje and Simon (35) from Buyanja Town Council in Rukungiri district.
Maate attributed the accident to a head-on collision between the two motorcycles. Police conducted a thorough investigation at the scene, documented the incident, performed postmortem examinations, and handed the bodies over to the respective families.
Both motorcycles have been impounded at the Rukungiri police yard awaiting inspection by the Inspectorate of Vehicles.
