Two Women Charged with OPM Iron Sheet Theft

  • The Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Kibuli has concluded an inquiry into the theft of 214 iron sheets from the Office of the Prime Minister. Two suspects, Nassaka Rose and Musoke Margret, were arrested. The State Attorney has recommended four charges, and the suspects are set to appear in Entebbe Court on January 11, 2024.

The investigation conducted by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Kibuli regarding the alleged theft of 214 iron sheets suspected to have been taken from the Office of the Prime Minister has been concluded.

On August 13, 23, the police received information about suspected iron sheets from the Office of the Prime Minister, believed to be stored in a residence in Bufulu Zone, Nkumba, Entebbe Municipality, Wakiso District.

A police operation at the mentioned residence led to the recovery of 214 iron sheets identified as government property belonging to the Office of the Prime Minister.

Two individuals were arrested in connection with the theft: Nassaka Rose, aged 45, self-employed, and a resident of Bufulu Zone, Nkumba, Entebbe Municipality, Wakiso, and Musoke Margret, aged 46, self-employed, and a resident of the same area.

After a thorough investigation, the case file was submitted to the State Attorney for review and legal advice. The State Attorney recommended charging the duo in court, and four charges have been preferred against them:

  1. Receiving stolen property, in violation of section 314 (1) of the Penal Code Act.
  2. Retaining stolen property, contrary to section 314(2) of the Penal Code Act.
  3. Conspiracy to commit a felony, as per section 390 of the Penal Code Act.
  4. Conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor, in violation of section 391 of the Penal Code Act.

Currently, the suspects are in custody at Entebbe Police Station. The case file has received official approval, and the suspects are scheduled to appear in Entebbe Court on January 11, 2024 (tomorrow).
