The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), led by Mercy K. Kainobwisho, has been honored for its pivotal role in fostering private sector growth. URSB was named the Best Government Agency for 2023 at the Private Sector Development Awards organized by Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU).

This prestigious accolade acknowledges URSB’s exceptional contributions to promoting private sector growth in Uganda. It highlights the success of URSB’s all-digital strategy, revolutionizing registration services to enhance ease and convenience for the business and investment community.

Private Sector Foundation Uganda, the apex body for the private sector in Uganda, recognizes the crucial role played by individuals, business associations, community groups, cooperatives, private companies, and government agencies in nurturing small and medium enterprises through these annual awards.

This recognition marks URSB’s second accolade after the Digital Impact Africa Awards, where it received the diamond accolade in the Utilities and Government Services Digital Excellence category.

Upon receiving the award, Registrar General Mercy K. Kainobwisho expressed gratitude to PSFU and the business community, emphasizing URSB’s dedication to creating a conducive business climate that fosters private sector-led development and competitiveness in Uganda. Kainobwisho affirmed that this recognition would further motivate URSB to continue facilitating business registration, protecting intellectual property rights, and supporting entrepreneurship growth across the country.

By securing the Best Government Agency award, URSB demonstrates its commitment to creating a favorable business climate and promoting private sector-led development in line with the national development plan III. URSB’s diverse range of registration services, encompassing businesses, intellectual property, civil and insolvency matters, and the security interest in movable property registry system (SIMPO), plays a crucial role in providing businesses with an enabling environment to thrive and contribute to Uganda’s economic growth. These recognitions underscore URSB’s dedication to excellence and its tireless efforts in supporting economic growth and development through efficient, reliable, and effective registration services.
