The Mpigi police are currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of a parent who was involved in a car accident shortly after dropping off his children at Gombe Secondary School.

The individual in question, Mr. Sulaiman Sserugoti Kadogo, aged 51, held the positions of Chairperson for Kasanja Central Village and Chairperson for the ruling NRM in Kasanje Town Council, Wakiso District. He was at the wheel of a Harrier with Registration Number UBF 945M. In the vehicle, he was accompanied by his daughter, only known as Nakazzi, and his two grandchildren. Thankfully, the three passengers survived the accident but sustained injuries and were promptly transported to Mulago National Referral Hospital for further medical attention.

According to an eyewitness account provided by Mr. Vincent Kizito Mutalemwa, the tragic incident occurred when Mr. Kadogo reached Sseta Village on the Mpigi-Kanoni Road. The vehicle veered off the road and plunged into a trench. Mr. Mutalemwa explained, “The driver was speeding and talking on the phone simultaneously. He failed to negotiate a sharp corner, ultimately crashing into a trench and tragically succumbing to the accident behind the steering wheel.”

Mr. Karim Majid, the acting Katonga regional police spokesperson, confirmed that investigations were currently underway to determine the precise cause of the accident. He stated, “Our traffic department will issue a comprehensive statement once they have collected all necessary evidence and completed their investigation.”

It is worth noting that Mr. Kadogo had initially dropped off one of his children at Pride College School in Mpigi before proceeding to Gombe SS. Mr. Mutalemwa added, “The wife had also taken other children to a different school in Masaka before she received the devastating news of her husband’s passing.
