Moses Basena, the former assistant head coach of the Uganda Cranes, has secured a lucrative position with the Tanzania Premier League team, Ihefu SC.

This development occurred just over a month after he was relieved of his duties during FUFA’s general reshuffle, which also saw the dismissal of head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic.

Ihefu FC officially confirmed the agreement on their social media platforms, stating, “Our club has reached an agreement with Ugandan coach Moses Basena to lead our team as the head coach.” They further emphasized Basena’s esteemed reputation in East Africa and his new role at their club.

In addition to his role as the Uganda Cranes deputy head coach, Basena had previously served as an interim head coach following Micho’s initial departure.

At Ihefu, Basena steps in as a direct replacement for Tanzanian national Zuber Katwila, who held the position for the past three years. Basena’s coaching experience includes stints at Sunrise FC in Rwanda, URA FC, Simba SC, KCCA FC, UPDF FC, and SC Villa.

Currently, in the 2023/24 Tanzania Premier League season, Ihefu is positioned eighth on the league table with six points from five games.
