No Kampala Marathon This Year: MTN Uganda Announces

Kampala, Uganda | THE BLACK EXAMINER | MTN Uganda has declared that the MTN Kampala Marathon will not be held this year. In a joint statement issued with the Uganda Athletic Federation (UAF) on Monday, MTN Uganda stated that they are taking a step back to realign their mission and explore new ways to make a more significant impact in the coming years.

The statement mentions, “We will not have the MTN Kampala Marathon this year, but we will soon announce the next phase of transformation in this cherished journey.”

Despite this decision, the telecom company reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the interests of Ugandans as a leading sponsor of various initiatives that enhance the well-being of the people. They expressed their eagerness to create more memorable moments in the future.

Over the years, MTN has raised Shs 5 billion, which has been invested in various community causes, including projects aimed at improving sanitation, providing access to clean water, and enhancing maternal health.

The MTN Kampala Marathon, which began in 2004 with about 1,500 participants, has evolved into a significant event, attracting over 30,000 runners annually.
