Ugandan runner Victor Kiplangat has said he is well prepared ahead of the 2024 Tokyo Marathon slated for March 3.
Kiplangat who has already hit the qualifying time for the Paris Olympic Games told Xinhua that he has put in a lot of work during preparations because he is determined to improve on his time running alongside other top athletes.
“I have trained well under coach Addy Ruiter and I can’t wait to go and prove a point in the Marathon in Japan,” added Kiplangat.
He made it clear that the Tokyo Marathon is a good platform for him ahead of the highly anticipated Olympic Games in France later this year.
While Kiplangat will be the only Ugandan battling among the elite runners, he will have countryman Abel Boniface Sikowo as his pacesetter.
The Ugandan made it clear that competing against the world record holder Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya will be a tough one, but also a good challenge because it will be a faster run.
The other Kenyans to watch include Vincent Kipkemoi Ngetich, Timothy Kiplagat, and Benson Kipruto and the Ethiopian trio of Hailemaryam Kiros, Andualem Belay and Tsegaye Getachew. Uganda will not have any runner in the women’s category of the Tokyo Marathon. â–
