The Uganda Rural Development and Training Program (URDT) has launched an ambitious project in Kagadi district: the creation of a man-made lake aimed at enhancing local tourism. Dr. Mwalimu Musheshe, URDT’s Founder and vice chancellor of a African Rural University, announced this initiative following the Ministry of Tourism’s recognition of URDT as a key tourism site.

Recently, the URDT community gathered at the site with tools and enthusiasm to begin construction on the lake. This innovative endeavor is poised to attract tourists and stimulate the local economy.

Dr. Musheshe expressed his enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing its potential to not only beautify the area but also serve as a unique tourist attraction. He highlighted URDT’s commitment to sustainable development and tourism promotion, underscoring the organization’s pivotal role in rural development across Uganda.

Annet Kabasiita, Director of Finance and Administration at URDT, confirmed that the man-made lake is set to be commissioned by the end of this month, marking a significant milestone in Kagadi district’s tourism landscape and community development efforts.
