The Nebbi Catholic Diocese is abuzz with excitement as Archbishop-Elect Raphael Wokorach P’mony arrives in the Vatican to receive his Pallium, a symbol of his new authority as Archbishop of Gulu. According to a report on a Catholic website dated June 29, the Pallium will be bestowed upon him during a special Mass presided over by Pope Francis.

Before his appointment as Archbishop of Gulu, Wokorach served as the Bishop of Nebbi Diocese for about two years. His return to Nebbi Diocese is scheduled for July 11, after which he will travel to Gulu to be installed as Archbishop on July 14.

Mgr Jackson Osiga, parish priest of Nebbi Catholic Diocese, shared with the Monitor that Christians are preparing in large numbers to accompany the Archbishop-Elect to Gulu and witness his installation. “Our Christians wished for the Bishop to stay in Nebbi Diocese, but it was God’s call for Archbishop-Elect Wokorach to lead in his new role as the Archbishop of Gulu,” Osiga said.
